Hotel in madrid

Trying to decide between hotels in Madrid as there are so many choices.
3 choices we are considering are Catalonia Las Cortes, Eurostar Plaza Mayor and Posada del Leon de Oro. We are there for 3 nights at the end of our trip this April.

Can anyone share your thoughts on these 3 or recommend something else in the similar price range.
Thanks so much!

I can’t speak to be hotels themselves since I’ve not stayed at any of them. Each is in a good location and near the popular sites. The one that may be in the most quiet area is Eurostar Plaza Mayor.

Good luck deciding.

It is hard to choose when you have never been to the city. We will be in Madrid and have reservations at Hotel Liabeny. It is a previous Rick Steves recommendation and a friend stayed there and said it was a good choice and well located.

NH Palacio de Tepa was a really nice end-of-trip splurge for us. Amazing bed, nice room, great staff and most importantly a great central location for rambling at night. It was €250

EDIT: I just saw what it's booking for in April and YIKES we got a smokin deal apparently. (booking last minute helps a lot I guess)

My favorite location is Catalonia Las Cortes.
You are in a part of the city center that is walking distance to the museums.
You also have 2 of my favorite tapas bars around the corner.

My wife and I stayed at the Catalonia Las Cortes during our trip to Spain in March 2025. The hotel is excellent, with a good breakfast buffet and bar; and wonderful customer service. The room we stayed in was a little small, but very comfortable and quiet since it was in the rear of the hotel. The location is excellent with easy access to Reina Sofia, the Prado Museum, Plaza Mayor, and lots of restaurants, cafes, and bars in the immediate area. There is also a rare book store across the street worth checking out.

We'd definitely stay there again whenever we go back to Madrid!

We enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Madrid Centro on Calle Lope de Vega 49. The location was perfect for us. Just a short walk to the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen Museums. Within walking distance of Retiro Park, and a block away from Calle de Jesus with all its tapas restaurants. Our room size was adequate, and the bathroom was quite spacious. And a delicious and filling breakfast buffet.

It was not too recently, but we've stayed at the Hotel Preciados, a sort of upper-mid-range boutique hotel. It's a gut renovation of an older building, so it was modern interiors. We liked it, and the location near Plaza Mayor but fairly quiet.

If price is important to you, you need to give a number or range. I'm not going to do test bookings of three hotels to get numbers.

Great feedback everyone! Thank you!
I booked the Catalonia Las Cortes with the option for cancelation so I can keep looking.
I guess I should have included that we are flexible on cost up to about $400 a night with breakfast and option to cancel. Location and a comfortable room are most important to us.
Thanks again for the ongoing suggestions.
