I will be in Barcelona for one day before a cruise in October. I am looking for recommendations for a moderately priced hotel that is conveniently located ( probably in the Gothic area or just an easy walk to Las Ramblas). I have been overwhelmed with the lists of hotels so I am asking for suggestions from recent travelers. Thanks !

We liked staying near the Plaça de Catalunya for its convenient central location. The cheap airport bus stops here.
We stayed at the H10 Catalunya Boutique Hotel. However, if you do a Google Maps or booking.com search you can find cheaper hotels within one or two blocks from the plaça. We were going to stay at the Hotel Nouvel before deciding to splurge a bit. Good luck.

We stayed at the H10 Urquinaona close to the above hotel.
It was clean comfortable and within walking distance of many attractions, and right by the Metro.

We found Hotel Lleo in that localation last July quite pleasant. Very good breakfast! Easy to walk many places. Reasonable, clean, good A/C in moderate hotel! Our kids enjoyed rooftop pool!

Eixample is a lovely neighborhood to stay in. Beautiful architecture and safe. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Granvia. Walking distance to Las Ramblas, Casa Batllo and Casa Mila.

I liked the Hotel Catalonia Portal de l'Angel, on a pedestrian street close to Placa Catalunya, Las Ramblas, and the Gothic Quarter. Our RS tour used it; I arrived a few days early and stayed there. Don't know whether it would be "moderately" priced, that's in the eye of the payer.
