will be visiting in mid October. Based on Rick's book, looking at Hotel LLeo and Denit in Placa Catalunya area and Hotel Raco del Pi in Old City. Anyone with preferences?
Thanks
We stayed two blocks from Placa de Catalunya and I thought that was a great location. Most of the time we just walked to sights or restaurants.
Palca Catalunya is as nice as any area. My wife and I stay a little further from it at Hotel Balmes and enjoyed its location. It’s further from Las Ramblas, but closer to casa Batlo, Sagrada Familia, and casa Mila. It’s just your preference.
Guys!.... "further from"... we're talking a few hundred yards.... duh!
Please do have a look at the following map: https://www.scribblemaps.com/maps/view/1_mile_radius/CANd4tFXgU
While the city is far larger, the "typical" visitor concentrates his visit mostly within this circle (give or take), with a few exceptions (ie. Park Güell or Montjuïc among other). This is a 1-mile radius circle from Plaça Catalunya so it means that, regardless where you are located, you're likely to walk less than one mile in most of your discovery of this city. For God sake, one mile!.... My advice is to waste less time worrying about "where will I stay" and more about "what will I do"
Furthermore, the city has an excellent transportation system (metro, bus, tramway, and train... also a large fleet of taxis) which will take you wherever you need to go cheaply and easily.
PS. @Jim, location-wise these hotels are merely half a mile from each other. The second one is in a pedestrianised area.
We loved El Jardi small basic but the prettiest plazas. Figure out what you want to do then pick from the book what is in your price range. The walk is lovely, taxis a good price and the metro clean and reliable.
