Hop on Hop Off bus tour in Barcelona

We would like to book a Hop On Hop Off tour. There are several companies offering them. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

I did not book our tickets ahead of time when we were there in 2016; just purchased them when we got on the bus.

I suggest checking online reviews and watching for complaints about long waits. When I arrived in Barcelona in early August 2016, I observed an incredibly long line of people waiting for a HO/HO bus at Pl. Catalunya. There were more than 100 people waiting, and there was no bus in view. The city has quite a good subway system in addition to public buses.

Hi there.

Not knowing your preferences for sights, I don't quite have a recommendation for which HoHo line to take. But I do have a suggested approach for picking which one will best suit you.

I almost always have a wish list of sights that I compare to the bus routes published online. Most of the time the HoHo companies have at least 2-4 routes. Of course, the main attractions will be covered by all the HoHo companies but there may be less popular sights you have your heart set on that may be served by some but not all the HoHo companies. Knowing the routes also inspires ideas of sights to visit that weren't on my original wish list. If this is your primary mode of transportation in Barcelona, then knowing the routes can assist you sketch your itinerary

Other factors I consider: is there a stop near my hotel, is there a stop near a restaurant or shop I wanted to visit, etc.

Remember that some routes may be seasonal or may not be available during certain times. If there is a HoHo route that strikes your fancy but it's not available during your visit, that can be a letdown.

If you don’t have mobility issues then I would suggest you will see a lot more by walking and experiencing Barcelona at street level.

•Start at Diagonal
•Walk down Passeig de Gracia to Placa Catalunya
•Continue down the Ramblas to Colon
•Walk around the waterfront to Barceloneta
•Catch the metro to Jaume I
•Explore the Bari Gotic around Catedral
