hop and hop off in Barcelona

We are ending a Med cruise in July and plan to stay 3 days in Barcelona, does anyone recommend the hop and hop off buses to see the highlights of the city?

Yes. I took two of the HOHO bus tours several years ago and thought they were worth the price. At that time, all three tours could be put on one ticket.

I just got back and it was definitely worth it. I believe it was 27 euros, paid on the bus, for all day. I did 2 tours the day i arrived, figuring with jet lag, I wasn't up for a lot of walking around yet. Being tired from the traveling, 2 of the tours, red and blue routes, were enough for me. 3 would have been possible, though, if you're up for it. Also, having been there in January, it was a bit cool on top of the double decker. If you sit down below, you don't see much.

For info:

There are two hoho bus companies offering each several routes: http://www.barcelonabusturistic.cat/en/home (3 routes) and http://www.barcelonacitytour.cat/en/ (2 routes, slightly longer) and http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/tour/barcelona-bus-turistic.html to explain how hoho buses work -in case someone doesn't know. I personally like the red route from the first company. Note that the two companies are competitors, therefore tickets of one cannot be used in the other.

We took the Barcelona Turistic Bus last year and loved it. There are three routes and it is easy to do one, then switch to another. The commentary is good (and in whatever language you want). One tip - in July, you will definitely want to be up top on the bus (and have a hat). Being downstairs in a closed bus in July will not be fun. Even if it is hot outside, you will have a breeze upstairs when the bus is moving. I would suggest you buy the two-day pass so you have plenty of time to make stops at things you want to see. We only had the one-day and felt rushed.

I agree with all above. we covered everything to see and do via the HoHo busses multi routes. it gets you there and brings you back reliably. Unless you are familiar with the language and area, this is so easy. gives you a terrific orientation of the area, audio tour and even takes you to the beach. very important- the hat in the summer.

I thought the HOHO there was great! We had 2 days tickets that covered 3 routes. We were able to see quite a bit using the bus.
