Honeymoon on Costa del Sol

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon in Spain for later this year for the last week of August and first week of September. We have our flights in to and out of Madrid. The plan right now (nothing booked yet) is to train from Madrid to Granada (maybe Sevilla), spend 6 days or so at a lazy but fun beach town then finish up with stays in Barcelona and Madrid.

We are struggling to decide where to stay for those 6 days on a beach. People have recommended Nerja, Tarifa and San Sebastián (even though it is far North and away from the Costa del Sol loop we originally envisioned).

Does anyone here have recommendations for places for us to stay near a beach for six days? Both town and hotel recommendations would be appreciated. We want a lazy beach town that still has some fun places to go out to eat, drink and dance.

Thank you!

Costa del Sol would be slap at the bottom of my list. The Bay of Biscay's water is nippy, even in mid-summer, otherwise San Sebastián would do the job -- so would Gijon, Ferrol, or La Coruna.

You'd probably be happiest along the Costa de la Luz. Cadiz itself might fit the bill exactly.

I agree with Ed...at the bottom of the list is Costa del Sol...think of Panama City Beach, Miami, and any of the many overgrown and over developed beaches here in the states.

Six days in any beach town sounds like a lot to me, but I guess that's what people go to the islands of Ibiza or Mallorca for. If you donate a couple of days to another town, you could see another, different facet of Spain.
