I am buying a Hola BCN card from TMB for use of mass transit. The purchase site is asking for a US Tax ID Number. Anyone know if this is my SSN? If yes, is it safe to enter on their site?

.... it's the Barcelona Metropolitan Transit Authority (TMB), why wouldn't it be?
You asked for an invoice, for that your Tax ID is needed. If you don't really need an invoice simply untick "I wish to receive a full invoice" and you'll only need to input your ccard information.
