Hiking close to Cadiz

Hola a todos,

we are currently staying in a hotel in Sancto Petri and i`m trying to find a "cool" hike. Something a with nice views and some challenge ;) Ideally ~15km with some height difference. We are looking for something in more or less 1h driving difference.

  • Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema might still be ok, The Ronda area a bit to far

The problem... I already lloked up a lot of things, but nothing worked out:

  • Sendero La Garganta Verde (combined with sth. else) --> closed before Oct. 15th
  • El Torreón (combined with sth. else) --> closed before Oct. 15th
  • hike up Picacho, a few km along the Sendero Traversia del Ajibe (until Ajibe) and back to the parking area.  --> found out today that I need a permit? not sure how to get it (especially within a day or two)

Im struggling to find a good ressource or concrete ideas on "wow hikes ;)" that are accessible and dont need a special permit.. I would be very gratefull for some tipps or advice.

Muchas gracias!!

I'm not there any more, and don't have my maps/books.
However, if you go to google maps, centre on Cadiz and search for "hikes" - a lot come up.
You have to go inland to get much altitude, but there are some lovely walks through the wetlands.
