Anyone know if you can catch this renfe train from the Valencia North Station or only from the J. Sorolla station? Any other tips on this route?
Thanks, Chuck
I just did a dummy booking on RENFE and one of the tickets I chose is from Valencia Joaquín Sorolla station to Madrid-Chamartín.
All high-speed trains taking about 2 hours for the trip originate at Valencia Joaquin Sorolla station with most arriving at Madrid- Chamartin- Clara Campoamor with a few high-speed Renfe AVE trains arriving at Madrid Atocha station.
It's been a few years, so check this information.
The 2 stations in Valencia aren't too far apart and there is a shuttle connection.
It's common for express trains to serve only one station in each city. Stopping in additional stations would make them slower.
The easy way to check this is to go to renfe.com and enter Valencia-Estacio del Nord as the origin and Madrid (Todas) as the destination. I tried that for tomorrow and found only one departure. It requires a connection at Albacete-Los Llanos and takes a total of 4 hr. 22 min. as compared to as little as 1 hr. 50 min. for the direct express trains. The departure from Estacio del Nord is more expensive than some of the much faster express trains, because it takes you way to the south rather than along a direct route, and you pay for that extra mileage.
They leave from J. Sorolla that anyway is just 10 minutes walking distance from the North Station!
