We are traveling by high speed train from Madrid to Barcelona on Sunday in December. In Madrid we are near the Atocha station. Looking for tips on logistics and making reservations, etc. I see Renfre, Iryo and Trainline as choices. Anything I should know about these companies. Thanks in advance for any help. Happy Holidays!
You can buy tix directly on the train company websites.
The Trainline will have an overview of each company’s ticket costs.

You get a perfect overview of the three high speed train services
- AVE trains from Renfe (Spanish national railways)
- IRYO trains

In addition to the buy options by Kenko above, you could add https://www.petrabax.com/?id=110829/#!/trains , an US-based agency, where you can book Spanish trains online in US$ in plain English with no payment problems. It links to Renfe's ticketing system, with a small mark-up.
We just did this. We found for Renfre the apps on our phone worked while the website on our laptops did not. You will need your passport numbers to book the trains
