My understanding, perhaps erroneous, is that the tracks are in place, but that the route is not yet operational. If so, what's the status of high-speed train service the entire way between Madrid and Granada?
All being well, the service will be running late June (from the 24th) and tickets will be on sale from tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Fingers crossed, indeed. Back in 2017 they were promising an April 2017 start. Guess there is only one sleep before you know fact or fiction.
Would you come back and give us an update of your success?
Looks like this is operational? I just picked up a random date and it shows 3 trains:
Dep Arr Duration Price From Class Fare
07.10 10.29 3h19 min. AVE 35,00 € Turista AVE Granada
15.00 18.05 3h5 min. AVE 35,00 € Turista AVE Granada
19.18 22.32 3h14 min. AVE 35,00 € Turista AVE Granada
Abhi - looks like it. Now seems be starting on 26/06/19, with three AVE services in each direction. At not much more than 3 hours journey time, it's a great improvement.
Hi,
Does anyone have an update on the Granada - Madrid train situation? I'm trying to figure out if my itinerary should be Cordoba to Granada to Seville to Madrid, or Cordoba to Seville to Granada to Madrid??
Dolly - just know that whatever route you choose, you can take buses as well as trains on those routes. From Madrid to Cordoba to Seville, the high speed train is much faster than the bus. For other city pairs, the bus works fine. I took the bus from Cordoba to Granada (in 2006); it took about 3 hours and was much nicer than Greyhound in the US.
Thanks, Harold. I'm planning to take the bus from Seville to Granada.
