My wife and I will be going to Barcelona in late July. Just as I am about to reserve a hotel, I see something that make me hesitate.
Can anyone give me advice in recommending a hotel in Barcelona? We want to be in walking distance to as much as possible.
We want a nice place, although we are not looking to spend more than $200 per night.
Help please! -Dan
We really loved Hotel Montecarlo on Las Ramblas. :)

Anyone else???

We stayed at 3 different hotels in Barcelona: Hotel Continental (had a balcony overlooking Las Ramblas, but is a quirky place,) Hotel Reding (fancy but with thin walls,) and Hotel Inglaterra (mid-range and has a rootop pool!) When I go again, I'd stay at Hotel Inglaterra again. If I were going in July, I'd be sure there was air-conditioning, wherever I stayed! Have fun!
Thanks everybody....all great info.

dk,

It's in a great location, fantastic staff, the rooms are very comfortable and they have an extensive breakfast. Highly recommended!
We liked the Hotel Continental Barcelona. Quirky, as noted above. Pink decor, plastic nightstands, but fantastic location, good price, 24 hour free coffee, wine, snacks. Plastic cups but fine with us. Pleasant breakfast room, small outdoor patio area. We also had a balcony room...fun to people watch but quiet for sleeping. As I passed through the lobby one day with RS tour book under my arm, the clerk spotted my book and stopped me to say he would deduct 10% from our bill. This was a couple of years ago but all things considered we thought it was very nice a great deal in a city that seemed very expensive in terms of hotels, at least in our world. Good luck.
