Help! Starving in Toledo!

Someone must know of a good restaurant in Toledo?!?!
We are in Toledo for four nights and cannot find a non touristy restaurant. I have scoped out and/or tried many listed in RS Spain 2016 book. I've scoured food blogs, etc and no one seems to have a solid recommendation. My impression is that central Toledo is so full of day trippers that all the locals live & eat outside the center. At this point we are considering taking a bus out of the center in search of a decent meal!
If you know of a good place for lunch or dinner please advise:)

Kate, after reading your question, I went to Trip Advisor, and they list several top picks that people seem to love. You'd need to check out where they are located. I myself will be in Toldeo in just a few days, for the first time, so please report back on what you find.

Larry, I am afraid if it's in Trip Advisor it won't be non touristy as Kate wants.

I don't want to suggest that you settle for mediocre, but sometimes you need to go with what you find instead of what you expected. Maybe food at the places you haven't tried yet will be better than what you thought from the outside. Of course, if you have to choose between a menu in three languages versus one in five languages plus pictures, then I gravitate to the former. Rick's listings will usually be pretty clear if he thinks a place is merely acceptable, or what it's particular charm might be. I hope that a picnic or two is also in your plan. Don't hesitate to ask locals for their favorites.

Local residents do write reviews about the restaurants in their city on Trip Advisor. I know I do. Just because a place gets good reviews certainly does not mean it is touristy. Places that are touristy, don't get good reviews at all.

I will PM you with a great place that we should keep out of the mainstream eyes.

I highly recommend Lo Nuestro Taperia on Calle San Juan Del Dios just above the Juderia. Run by a wonderful couple. It also doubles as a small market.

Sorry that's Juan de Dios and it is in the Juderia.
