Has anyone actually ever received compensation from Vueling?

Vueling airlines lost my bag for 3 days last week. They were telling me at first that it would be best to send it to Madrid and I MIGHT receive it then. Madrid was 5 days from then. There was absolutely no sense of urgency on their part to reconnect me with my bag.

The flight from Barcelona to Seville that I was on was only 3/4 of the way full and it was a 1 hour and 45 min DIRECT flight. They somehow managed to lose 10-12 bags. We were all standing together at the counter upon arrival and the lady helping us was rude and completely unwilling to help. I got my claim forms and proceeded to call every hour from then on and kill them with kindness. I kept being told not to worry, that they wold reimburse me 50 euro a day, as this would make it all ok. I went out and purchased some clothes and toiletries and now cannot get a response from them. Also, not to mention, the 10 plus international phone calls. Wondering if anyone has had experience with this.

At this point, it is not about the money, simply the principle of it all. I have since found thousands, yes, thousands of similar stories dating back many years ago until just a few days ago. This seems criminal. I actually feel very lucky that mine was only gone for 3 days as it seems most were gone much longer than that or never returned at all. It's very surprising that with all of this, they are still in business.

If anyone has any advice on this matter, I would greatly appreciate it. If anyone reading this is thinking about flying Vueling, I urge to to google the reviews. I would never fly with them again, even if it was free!

Did you have travel insurance? Did you charge your ticket on a credit card that includes coverage for lost baggage?

For example, the baggage delay feature on my travel insurance from Travel Guard is $200 per insured. The baggage delay through my Chase credit card is up to $100 a day for up to 5 days. If you are not having success with the airline, could you look at some of these other options to get reimbursement for your out of pocket expenses?

I understand that this must have been inconvenient for you. I understand that you are dissatisfied with the customer service of this airline. However, at some point, the hassle of dealing with the airline may become such a painful or costly experience to you that seeking reimbursement elsewhere might be the best option.

Thanks for the info. I am not going to spend a lot of time on this but wanted to reach out to see if others have had similar experiences. My CC company will compensate me and I'll probably put a claim to insurance as well.

I exchanged info with another passenger with missing bags and she and her sister have still not received them. It's been 9 days now. Just seems so wrong. We have traveled extensively, large and small airlines in all different countries/continents and I have never had anything like this happen to me. My husband has unfortunately lost his bag 3 times and all 3 times they communicated with us and we received it back in 1 -2 days and compensation was as simple as an email.

My husbands patience and persistence must have paid off as I feel very lucky to have only waited 3 days for it.

I can understand wanting 'something' done. 3 days' or 9 days' wait is outrageous...and it sounds like this is common practice for them and they don't care. I also expect it is because the cumulative effect of complaints is not enough to make them change practice.
Not sure how an American watchdog can help, but that sort of thing may just make them take notice. Clearly ignoring customers is easy to do and people have few alternatives. I would also look at a formal letter to the company head. I realize this is a 'Rick Steves' forum, but there are other global forums with Air Travel forums with people in the know who are regular posters. They may be able to give specific contact information of who is more at the top to complain to.
Not that it helps, but I did check Vueling's carry on limitations, and with a little creative packing, might allow carry on only. That being said, I have considered a Granada to Barcelona flight and might have just checked it for convenience, despite being carry on compliant. Dragging bags around the airport these days is just getting old......
I hate to think you have had this to contend with during your vacation. Hopefully you can salvage the rest without a bitter taste.

About two years ago I had a flight with Vueling from SPU to TXL with a connection in FCO. When I arrived in TXL I, along with one or two other passengers, never got our luggage. I was without it for about two days but in TXL I believe it was a company contracted through their airport that was in charge (not Vueling). Side note, Vueling or just about any other airline contracts luggage handling out, so although it's quick to point the finger at Vueling, it is in reality the contractor that's to blame. I initially thought the issue with my missing luggage had to do with the construction going on at FCO (being that I had to transfer terminals). I'm so glad I got my luggage back because I had happened to pack some expensive gifts in there and I can honestly say I was not a happy camper the first two days I was in Berlin. Vueling offered my a daily compensation but I didn't really need to purchase much and I didn't want to deal with the hassle of sending receipts to Spain from the US. Wasn't worth it in my opinion.

On another note, I happened to purchase a flight with them for an upcoming trip between BCN and Palma, Mallorca. I never even knew about how bad this airline's reputation was until someone else posted about it here in the RS forums. I then searched multiple review websites and came to the conclusion that I better find another alternative before the same thing happens to me again (even though it's a direct 45 minute flight). I didn't want to spend the extra money, but then a sort of miracle fell on my lap. I got an email from Vueling saying that one of the flight legs had to be rescheduled (they bumped me to an earlier flight time). What was great about this was that I was given the option of changing the flight to a different day or cancel it altogether (only the one flight leg, not the whole flight). I went with my instinct and asked for a refund, which I received a few days later (despite many reviews that say people never get compensated; maybe I got really lucky). I opted to just buy another flight with Air Europa, which has a slightly better reputation. I can deal with potential flight delays, but I will be one sour person if you lose my luggage.
