When researching my trip to Greece earlier this year on the forum I came across a recommendation for Melissinos in Athens! I was determined to get there, and I finally made it but couldn’t decide on a pair. I sat and watched a member of my party get hers made and what an art! Unfortunately I talked myself out of the purchase. My biggest travel regret!
Well I want to make up for it on my next trip. Does anyone have recommendations on where I can find an authentic sandal maker in either Barcelona or Madrid?

When you mention "authentic sandals in Barcelona" is what you mean espardenyes? These are the traditional handcrafted sandals of the Catalonia/Valencia regions. They are both popular for woman and men too. I haven't owned a pair in a while... but I remember there was a low-key shop called Espardenyes Barcelona close to La Sagrada Familia. You could also check out La Manual Alpargatera, which is closer to the Barrio Gotico, it may be more the traditional experience :)
