Guided Tours at Barcelona Gaudi Sights

Hi all,

Working on an itinerary for an upcoming trip to Spain in September, including a few nights in Barcelona.

In researching some of the Gaudi sights and looking into buying tickets online, I've noticed that some of the bigger places, like Sagrada Familia and Park Guell offer the option of guided tours. Even more, the guided tour isn't all that much more than the standard admission ticket - for instance a basic ticket to Sagrada Familia seems to be 15 euro, while the guided tour is 24 euro. Are these guided tours worth the increased price? Assuming we can make it work time wise, is there any reason to NOT do these guided tours?

Thanks!

I used the audio guide at La Sagrada Familia and just did my own thing at Parc Guell, but I agree that those tours sound like deals. One thing to check on is how the tour timing at LSF will fit with ascending one of the towers if you choose to do that (assuming the tower isn't included in the tour), and is there even a combination ticket that covers both tour and tower. I skipped the tower and thus had the option of booking an early entry to the church, when it was less crowded. The first few minutes were very nice, then it got progressively more crowded during my visit. Is an English-language tour offered first thing in the morning?

Buying any ticket to Parc Guell well ahead of time means you're rolling the dice, weather-wise. In 2016 I was able to buy my ticket just one or two days ahead of time, after I arrived in Barcelona, but I don't know that it is safe to do that now.

We used the audio tour at Sagrada Familia and it was quite comprehensive. It also allowed us to tour at our own speed and to linger at things that we found more interesting. Personally, I would not want to be herded around on someone else's timetable. We toured Parc Guell on our own as well as we had researched it ourselves beforehand. I would strongly suggest that you book your Sagrada Familia ticket for the opening time, in order to avoid crowds as the day progresses.
