We are doing a day trip to Tangier via the ferry from Tarifa in October. Has anyone toured Tangier without a guide? We really like to do our own thing, but we don't want to have a miserable day.
We survived the hounding of guides and carpet salesmen in the old part of Istanbul. Is it worse in Tangier?

We asked this question on the Tangier forum (outside Europe) and did not get a response. We like doing stuff on our own as well, however we thought a small tour might be nice. We do not like to eat in the "touristy" restaurants
