I am flying into Madrid and staying 3 days prior to joining a RS Andalucia Tour starting in Cordoba in April 2025
I’m looking for advice on a tour guide to hire for half a day while in Madrid and possibly a day trip out of Madrid.
Has anyone had an experience with a guide while in Madrid?
We used Dr. Almudena Cros from Rick’s Spain guidebook. We took a Prado Tour and food tour. It was just the four of us and worth the money. She tailored the tours for us, adding a few pictures in the Prado we wanted to see.

Federico Barroso (who also guides for Rick Steves tours) provides private tours in Madrid as well as outside of Madrid.
Hi Mary. Have you used Federico? I am thinking a Madrid tour the day after I arrive ( 4/16) and a 6 hour Segovia or Cuenca tour the day I leave (4/17) with a 3pm train to Cordoba from Madrid. Maybe I should switch the days.

He was our guide on the Rick Steves Barcelona and Madrid tour a few years ago. He also was our "local" guide at the Prado and Reina Sofia museums, as well as Madrid walking tour. He is one of my absolute favorite guides on over a dozen Rick Steves tours I have taken.
