Granada to Seville via Train? Any direct choices???

Hi Folks:

We will be leaving Granada and going to Seville in early September on a weekday. (I know I'm super early). I went to a few travel sites and plugged in random dates in the next month or so and it doesn't look like many direct trains all seem to go through Cordoba and some even require switching to a different station all together. Does anyone know about direct trains? I heard AVANT trains are direct but when I look I don't see any. Perhaps there will be more in high season. I don't mind switching at Cordoba but easier with luggage. Sounds like so many sites to look at. Any experts on best site to buy from. I could take a bus but I prefer trains.

Also when should I book? 90 days out?

I don't understand your question. There are no trains between Granada and Seville which won't stop along the way. But if you stay on the same train when it stops, then that is direct. Thee are currently about three services which start at Granada and end in Sevilla (with several stops between). I doubt it will be much different next year as it isn't a particularly important route.
Alsa run diect coach services between Granada and Sevilla.

Thank you Nick. I was unaware you didnt have to transfer to a different train. Thank you for clearing it up.

  • Book on the Renfe website or Renfe smartphone app.
  • The most sensible route will go through in Cordoba, but technically you could take a train to Antequera and transfer there. A direct Sevilla to Granada route will go through Cordoba.
  • Yeah, you're nowhere close to a normal booking time and I wouldn't book this early anyway. 90 days is a good general expectation but sometimes trains get added later than that.

Thank you makes sense. I just wasnt sure if I had to get off train in Cordoba to get on a different train. Sounds like I can just stay on same train
