Am wondering which mode of travel between Granada and Seville is best. The bus is less expensive and takes the same amount of time. Any problems with either choice?

Hi Molly, No problems with either train or bus. The pleasant buses travel more or less as a crow flies which is why they almost tie the high-speed trains which travel a bit out of their way to Cordoba before tacking back in the direction of Granada. Renfe, Spain’s national train company, has no competitor on this route which is why train ticket prices are relatively high. That could change in the future.
Santa Justa and Sevilla bus station are not co-located like a lot of public
transport hubs are. Everything else being arbitrary, I'd try to pick the mode
of transport that gets you closer to your accommodation.
There are direct trains from Granada to Sevilla’s Santa Justa station taking 2h 45m. There are also direct buses from Granada’s Estación de Autobuses station to Plaza de Armas in Sevilla taking 3h. Trains are more comfortable to ride than buses but if you pack heavy it’s easier to put your bags in the luggage compartment that is only accessible from outside the bus so you don’t have to haul your suitcase(s) up any steps.
Follow up:
I had thought the train would be better, but true to reputation, the Renfe site is only posting two trains, one at early morning and the other too late in the day. So, bus it is BUT I cannot get the Alsa site to work for me and although it says it is in English, only half of it is translated. The big problem is entering my cell number which although I select the United States, it insists on keeping the area code for Spain. The Alsa help/contact message states that all questions be written in Spanish. Any options other than dealing with their online purchase site? I want to secure these tickets due to the Easter crowds we will be competing with for seats, etc.

I know you can buy bus tickets on thetrainline.com, but not sure for your
specific date/time.
I’ve done this trip quite a few times. By train and bus.
We prefer buses as mentioned by MaryPat, because it's easier with bags. Be mindful some buses don’t have toilets and it’s a three hour trip. The buses are super comfortable as are the trains.
I’m not sure how many days you will be in Seville prior to travelling to Granada but you could consider going to Plaza de Armas to book your bus tickets whilst in Seville.
However availability can depend on the time of year you are in Seville and whether there’s a massive festival. We often book at the bus station whilst in Seville.
www.Busbud.com sells tickets online for both Infobus and Alsa on the Granada/Seville route. The Busbud website is easy to use.
Thank you for the two recommended online sites for buying bus tickets.
