granada to málaga airport

We have an easyJet morning flight (10am) from Málaga to Milan ($40 - woohoo!) May 23. Do we need to book a room in Málaga for the night before or is there a way to get to Malaga airport from Granada and still make the flight? Our Alhambra reservation is at 9:00 am on May 22.

If we should stay nearer the airport, are there any suggestions for where to stay? We are 4 adults using public transportation.

Thanks for your help with this one.

P.S. I know Rick doesn't like some of these airport cities as travel destinations, but with the incredible airfares available it might be helpful for him to recommend a few options (or good chains?) with easy airport access for budget travelers to use.

The book indicates that buses from Granada to Malaga take 1.5 - 2 hours, which sounds like a close call in the morning. See www.alsa.es for relevant schedules, which apparently go to the arrivals area of Terminal 3. (The Alsa web site is giving me trouble right now, so try it later.)

Strongly suggest you stay in Malaga overnight, an eleven minute train ride from the airport, three times an hour. There is the IBIS Budget or IBIS Centro and plenty of other accommodation minutes from the Alameda or Maria Zambrano stations in the city. There are hotels near the airport but nothing else of any consequence.
'airport cities' - I have no idea what is intended by this, but all the cities I have flown into were there long before an airport. Malaga is no exception and offers plenty of interest. You may want to take the late afternoon/evening to 'see' it.
