Granada - Hammam Al-Ándalus (Arab bathes) or Flamenco dancing in the caves?

Granada - if I have to choose between an evening in the Hammam Al-Ándalus (HOT SPRINGS AND MASSAGE) and Flamenco dancing in the caves - what do you recommend?

Since you will be traveling in October, yes to the Hammam. Will this be your first hammam experience? Be sure to select a ritual that has the kessala (scrub with a glove and the black soap, if it’s a traditional hammam.). That scrub and the passage between different warm and hot rooms/pools is the traditional part.

Although I have not been to this particular hammam, I do try to have a hammam day whenever I’m in Spain or France. Not something readily available at home. The place itself looks lovely and has good reviews. A connection to Spain’s North Africa influences.

Between Granada and Seville, there will be many opportunities for authentic flamenco, depending on the depth of your interest.

Thank you Barbara. You have decided me, and I appreciate the knowledge that I should try the "scrub part."
I wasn't sure about that portion of the offering. Now i am going for the traditional Hammam in Granada because of you!

Just hopping on to say I was actually at the Hammam Al-Ándalus last night and had a lovely time. It's a great chain; every location I've been to is gorgeous and so relaxing. I believe they have some kind of discount if you show your Alhambra ticket, but I didn't think to try.

Thank you. I bought my ticket for the Hammam last night and I am excited. I will ask about the Alhambra ticket.
Bless you!

Please don't delay too long about asking for your Alhambra ticket. I think you are visiting in October and they are already on sale and, inevitably, selling out.

Unless I'm completely thinking about the wrong area, that Hammam is close to the Darro river. That's a nice area for an evening walk - on the other side, I think, but there are bridges - including if you go to the square de los Tristes where you get a good view looking up to the Alhambra. Along that route are also the buses that go up into the Albaicin (for a view looking across to the Alhambra) and Sacromonte (where the caves are). Plenty of food and drink options around these places too. If you walk down through the Albaicin there are lookouts across Granada worth seeing at night.

Thanks Nick. Great advice. I will follow all of it. I bought my ticket for the Alhambra, the Hammam baths, AND the gypsy dancing in the caves, I found a way to do it all. Then I will wander the streets and find the food and the views and lovely new friends who are local and visiting. Life is good!
