Thanks for your reply. I'm looking for a location that is not parties and lots of bars etc.. quiet, scenic, shopping and good restaurants. We hope to do some guided day trips around the island.

That's still kind of vague, but staying in Las Palmas might serve you. Around Cantaras beach. Other places are either small or resort towns with sunburnt northern Europeans. (Which has its own merits, but is very specific.)

Don't know anything about Anfi, but I've looked them up. Seems like they're all west of Maspalomas. That area is 100% northern Europeans on vacation (and, in winter, retired snowbirds.) It's kind of like going to Cancun, but fish & chips and schnitzel at the pool bar rather than a hamburger.

None of which I mean as criticism—I've spent the last two Januarys in Maspalomas, where I'm constantly asked, "Why would an American come all the way here for... this?"
