We would have loved to go to the Alcazar on a tour with Concepcion, but just noticed that she is not doing tours the days we are in Sevilla. It appears that the best day for us to go is Sunday, November 4th. I'm going to take the RS suggestion, and reserve tickets. Any suggestions for time of day to go? Both my husband and I do a lot of photography so lighting can be important for us. I know the Alcazar has become very busy. If we go at opening, are the large tour groups already there? Is it better in the afternoon? Lastly, I hope I am as lucky with the Alcazar transaction as I was with the Alhambra yesterday. It went thru very easily with a Mastercard. Anyone have recent experience with Alcazar tickets? Gracias!
I went late afternoon (in mid summer though) and enjoyed the horizontal light, and evening feel in the garden.
We are visiting Seville mid October, is Concepcion a tour guide? You had mentioned this name in your opening post.

We were there in early june on a Sunday and booked a 12 pm time slot for entry. We had no issues booking online and printing out the tickets. I think I used visa, and booked about 3 weeks before. The waiting line for tickets was really long, but the line on the left side for booked tickets was short. We got in that line at 11:45 and were in before noon. I don’t know what is ‘normal’ crowd size is but it certainly was manageable and not wall-to-wall people. We spent almost 4 hours there, including some time at the cafe in the garden area.
Thanks for the helpful replies. Concepcion is a guide RS likes. She is on his Sevilla videos and recommended in his guidebook. She has a website. I think she works tuesdays Thursdays and saturdays. Very reasonable
That time of year you probably don’t need to get advance tickets, but if it makes you feel better and you know for certain the day you’ll be there, then it doesn’t hurt to buy in advance. Last time we were there, it was in September and we just walked right up and in. On our trips we don’t always know which day we’ll visit a place.
NY Times has a new travel article on two locations in Spain, Seville and the wine region of Ribera del Duero (about an hour north of Madrid by train, two hours by car, near the city of Valladolid).
