I am going to attend my first Spanish GP next week and I would like to know some of the attractions besides the track action. Found some good options here but looking to get more ideas ideally from the locals to make the best of my time in Barcelona. Thanks
GP = Grand Prix?
Are you asking about Barcelona area in gerneral or just F1 focused events and activities? Just the three days of the GP or are you in the area for a longer time period?
@jkh I will be arriving in Barcelona on Friday morning so can visit a couple of places in the daytime on Friday that are not too far from the track before I head over to the track in the afternoon. The first practice session will start at 4:30 PM local time.
FP1 for F1 starts at 1:30 PM local time, not 4:30. Here is the full schedule of all events at the track: https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/formula-1-gran-premio-de-espana-2024-timetable.SXWFJ3pwRxyPInRQwvcP0. Even though F1 is the main attraction, I enjoy the other races as well.
So, no time to see much, if anything in Barcelona before you head to the track. I am not a local, but have visited Barcelona and their GP. I don't know of anything close to the track to visit.
This year it looks like there is a schedule of F1 events near Port Vell. These events are usually worth a visit in the evening if you are staying in Barcelona. They tend to draw big crowds of race fans, tourists, and locals.
Thanks @jkh
I like the overview videos by "Patrick Guide Barcelona":
