Going from the airport to "Urquinaona" metro stop

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I posted about the same subject but now I am posting again because I found something more specific and I would like to ask you if the information I found is correct:

In October I will be visiting for the first time Barcelona. My hotel is 5 minutes on foot from the Metro Station / Stop called “Urquinaona”.

If I got it right , to get there from the airport El prat I should follow this route:

First, I must take L9 (orange line) and stop at “ Fondo” . Then I should change to L1 (red line) and then stop at “Urquinaona”. Is that correct? Does anyone know approximately how much the ticket will cost?

Thank you in advance everyone for your help,
Cheers and keep travelling!

As an added comment re the L9 and L10 metro lines, they are usually an impractical transit option. The lines are incomplete, with both ends not connected on their circuitous routing. In addition, the lines are deep and involve several escalators down to the platforms.

Dear Mr. David,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I really appreciate it. You are right, the airbus seems more convenient choice and I will choose it. I have two last questions if you could help me. There are two airbuses. Do both stop at Placa Catalunya or not? And finally, I guess I can pay for ticket while I am on the bus. Is that correct?

Thank you in advance for everything and sorry to bother you with my questions,

My best wishes,

Yes, both end in Pl Catalunya, one departs from T1 at the airport and the other from T2.
Yes you can purchase the ticket on the bus.

FYI... It took me a while to get the pronunciation—four sylables: Urr-key-now-nah.

Thank you so much Scudder and David. I could have never pronounced it the right way :P At least their pronounciation is intriguing :)

At the airport, there's a ticket seller at the bus stop at busy times and you pay him/her while you wait in line, so boarding goes faster.
I'd use the bus also because I've found it very confusing to get oriented when emerging from the Urgquinaona metro stop.

To plot your walking route, use El Corte Ingles because Placa Catalunya is huge and the bus stops almost in front of the store.

The correct way is: Urr-key-nah-oh-nah !!! -strong syllable being "oh"

We stayed in that area and just took the very convienent Aerobes to Plaza Catalunya, then it's a shortish walk from the metro. I went ahead and purchased tickets online. The driver scans your QR code and hands you a ticket.(pre-Covid.

It's really relaxing and easy plus you get to see more of Barcelona.
