Going from Seville in Spain to Tangiers

How can I go from Seville Spain to Tangiers in Morocco? Can I do a day trip from Seville or do I need to stay in a city close by where the ferry leaves from. Any information would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance,
Marlene

With all due respect....this is a really, really bad idea.

Want to visit Morocco? Great - it's really awesome. But for heaven's sake, do not go to Tangiers. That's a "bordertown" experience, grotesque and manufactured for tourists. Just like doing a "day trip" to Tijuana and thinking you experienced Mexico. You get the absolute worst possible view of the country, and it's not worth your time and trouble.

And from Seville? Ay Caramba! You would burn so many hours travel time for just a few hours in (ewwwww) Tangiers? No, no, noooo...

Want to see the real Morocco? The good stuff? Skip the ferry port "Tijuana" experience. FLY to Marrakech and/or Fes - that's where you want to be, that's it's cheaper and easier to get to than the miserable ferry ports and it's the part that you should see.

If you really must do a trip to Tangier (I wouldn't bother, it's a waste of time) then you really need to be somewhere close to the ferry, either in Tarifa itself or somewhere within an hours drive. We visited earlier this year and left early morning from Estepona. It took an hour to drive and then an hour to find somewhere to park! Consequently we missed our ferry but took the next one.

It was a long day and not worth the trouble or expense in my opinion. Spend your time in Spain, a far better experience.

If traveling by public transport, the first bus departs Seville around 9:00 to arrive to Tarifa around noon, and then you can't depart on a ferry until 13:00 or 14:00. So you do have to sleep either in Tarifa or in Tangiers in order to have more than a few hours there. See www.skyscanner.com for flight options between the two countries, which won't be the same every day.

You may want to read this lady's experience in Tangiers:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/14/travel/tangier-morocco-women-female.html

Female tourists, locals assured us, are fine without headscarves and with their knees showing (I was the only one in our group who did the latter), but you will get stares. We decided against tea at the famed Café Tingis in the medina because there was not a woman among the 50 or so crowded inside and out. Every time we took a walk, we’d get catcalled. Mostly that meant a lot of “holas,” but we were also followed for blocks, and Melanie said that multiple men hissed in her face.

If you do go, I would recommend spending the night/day before in Tarifa and taking the early morning ferry. And, I highly recommend staying at Hotel Misiana in Tarifa. We stayed there in May and the hotel and bar/restaurant are really wonderful. Tarifa was a very nice town and I wish that we had gotten to spend more time there. The port is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel. We were in Tangiers for two nights and stayed at Maison Blanche and I also highly recommend it.

From Tangiers we went to Marrakech and I agree that Tangier is more of a border town but it does give you an exposure to Morocco. Marrakech was completely different and in all honesty I didn't like either place, but my wife loved our time in Morocco. Everyone is different. I much preferred our time in Spain and Sevilla was my favorite stop on our trip. We went from Ronda to Tarifa and then flew from Marrakech to Sevilla so I can't help you on the logistics of getting to Tarifa.
