Hi,

Living here in Catalonia I can't help you out with hotels, sorry, I just wanted to point out -in case you weren't aware- that there's a great festival going on in Girona around those dates that might interest you... or perhaps that's the reason you're visiting Girona already?

It's called Temps de Flors, Catalan -the local language- for "time of flowers" and it's a festival dedicated to Spring. Over 200 sites in the Old City are decorated with artistic displays including flowers as their main motive: https://infocatalonia.eu/w/RH9Gv

It lasts a week and it's free... a reason why it might be quite busy, especially over the weekend.

This is the website for last year's edition https://www.gironatempsdeflors.cat/cat/inici.php In due time -a few weeks before the event- the new schedule and information will be posted. In any case, it'll be pretty similar to last year's so take it as a good guide to this year's

I manipulated my itinerary last year in order to be able to see the flower festival in Girona. I had done a fair amount of city sightseeing there in 2016, so it worked reasonably well for me to stay in Figueres (much, much cheaper at the time) and day-trip to Girona. I would not recommend that for a first visit unless you just don't find anything affordable in Girona on the night you need, because there's a lot to see in Girona even aside from the flower-related sights. Other than the Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres, Girona--in my view--has a lot more to offer a tourist. Note: I spent multiple nights in Figueres in order to have time for both cities.

There were a lot of extra people in Girona during the flower festival. I encountered lines for most of the indoor floral displays, but none of them required a lot of waiting. Still, getting an early start and having a plan would be a very good idea. I suspect more people show up on weekends than on weekdays.
