Girona day trip or return to Barcelona

My friend and I (both 21 year old guys) have the following itinerary for Barcelona:
May 24th (half day): Picasso museum, La Pedrera-Casa Mila, explore gothic quarter at night.
May 25th: Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Las Ramblas, general exploring.
May 26th: Girona FC football game in Girona.
Leaving on the 27th.

We are wondering if it would be worth it to stay in Girona for the rest of the day before/after the game or to stay in Barcelona before the game or return after (game doesn't have a start time yet). What recommendations of things to do would you give for Girona if we spend the day, or other things to do/visit in Barcelona if we return?

Because you guys are 21 and Girona is a University Town with 15,000 students among the 100,000 residents—I think you’d really enjoy overnighting there— particularly if Girona wins the game. Girona has an ancient Old City called “Ciutat Antiga” near its massive cathedral where “Game of Thrones” found the perfect set existed in real life to film some scenes for the series. One of the best-preserved Jewish Quarters in all of Europe is here. It dates back to the 13th-century and has a great history museum. Girona’s ancient city walls are here and you can walk on them at no cost. There also is a centuries-old Turkish bath dating back to the conquest by the Moors. There even are ruins of a Roman Tower from 300 ACE when the Romans were here.

Girona was one of our favorite stops on a six-week trip that I did with my husband. Besides all the great sites Kenko mentioned, it is a beautiful place to just roam and explore.
