Our RS Best of Spain tour end in Seville on Sunday morning and all the flights from Madrid to Newark leave at 11;30.
The earliest AVE train seems to leave around 7am, which wont give us enough time to make the flight.
Other than going up to Madrid on Saturday night, can anyone think of a way we can get from Seville to the airport in time to make an 11;30 flight?
Have you looked at connecting flights, such as why not fly Seville to Lisbon to EWR? Or via AMS or ZUR?
Missing the final group dinner would be a shame.
Either stay an extra day, or as Suki suggests, book a flight from Seville to get you back to the US.
Have you already booked the flight?
Thanks for your replies.
No, we haven’t booked flights yet, and unfortunately we can’t take any extra vacation time so must go back Sunday.
I will look again at the flights from Seville but when I checked earlier the existing flights had layovers that wouldn’t get us home until sometime Monday.
I was hoping someone knew of something I hadn’t thought of.
Worst case scenario we can take an 11:30pm AVE train up to Madrid on Saturday night.
That way we’d still be able to go to the last dinner.
No idea when your trip is, but did see that TAP Airlines has SVQ-LIS-EWR with a 7AM departure and a 350PM arrival on a Sunday ( randomly chosen for April 2018) Have you looked at that possibility?
Is there a very early morning flight Seville to Madrid? Perhaps a 6 or 7AM? That would get you to Madrid by 8ish. I would be leery of this - if this hopper flight is delayed you would miss your long flight - but people do it all the time.
If it were me I’d take the late night train, then a cab to a hotel near MAD.
Thank you all for all the suggestions, i did find a flight from Seville leaving at 7am that goes to Lisbon and from there to EWR and gets us home by 3pm Sunday.
I didn’t notice this flight first time i looked so another thanks to Joe for mentioning it.
Mira, i am a bit concerned about the possibility, hopefully remote, that our flight from Seville is canceled/delayed, but will hope for the best.
Flight from Seville to Lisbon is on White Airlines, which I haven’t heard of, but it seems to have a decent on time record.
Cheers,
Claire
I would only take the early flight out of Seville on Sunday morning if the entire trip to Newark was on a single ticket. At least that way, if something goes wrong, you won't be adding the need to buy new transatlantic flights home to the problem of being a day late getting back to work.
