To join a cruise starting in Vega de Terron in Portugal we need to get from Madrid to Salamanca to embarkation point. Any ideas? We don't want to buy the cruise's before and after package, want to go on our own. No trains west from Salamanca that we can find.
Here’s what I found when someone asked the same question a couple years ago.
“It appears you can take a bus from Salamanca to La Fregeneda. From it, my guess is you’d need to take a taxi (about 6 miles) to the Muelle (pier) Vega de Terron. Other than the pier and a small building, there’s precious little nearby. There is no train service. La Fregeneda is a very, very, small town and doesn’t appear to have any local taxi service. The closest is in a nearby town, so a taxi would have to travel to La Fregeneda.

You can send the Salamanca bus station an email to find out how frequently the busses run.

From Salamanca, it’s about 133 miles to Vega de Terron. You could also ask AMA. Seems it should have the information since there are limited options.
I did find a kiwitaxi.com website that advertises transfers to Vega de Terron/la fregeneda, but it isn’t cheap; $545 USD for up to 4 people. Travel time is just under 2 hours.”
Here’s another site that may be helpful: https://kiwibuses.com/en/spain/salamanca-%3Evega+de+terron+port
This is a transfer service, but isn’t cheap. https://www.a2b.com/transfer/vega-de-terron-port/salamanca
