Getting around in Barcelona!

Hola!

I will be traveling to Barcelona in June. I am currently looking for recommendations for a central hotel for my stay. I also wish to know how walkable Barcelona is as I visited Italy two summers ago and could pretty much walk everywhere and found that to be really enjoyable and a money saver.

While in Barcelona, I wish to visit the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Casa Mila, Picasso Museum and other recommended places. Can you help me out? Also are their services like Uber and Lyft in Spain? Thanks!

Good value, good reviews, good amenities, good location at ...

Convenient for access to the tourist sites you mention as well.

To get around, buy a T-10 stored value ticket for the metro, valid for 10 rides, unlimited interchange. The Girona stop is very close to the Euro Park mentioned above.

The Europark looks like quite a nice hotel (far beyond my price range!), and the Eixample is a good area; not very touristy but with restaurants and handsome buildings. There are modernista buildings scattered around the Eixample, so if that architecture is one of the main things drawing you to Barcelona, the Eixample will be a good home base.

The Europark would also be quite convenient for visiting La Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila and the Picasso Museum. Parc Guell pretty much needs some form of transportation from just about anywhere you might stay (bus or taxi is best unless you want to walk a mile uphill). The Europark's location very near the Girona Metro station is a big plus for getting to other places for which transport might be needed (like Montjuic).

My question is: How many days are you going to spend in Barcelona? If it's a rather long visit and you are going to want to keep returning to the Barri Gotic/El Born/El Raval areas, you might prefer to be not quite so far beyond Placa Catalunya. But the closer-in areas can be noisier and certainly are far more touristy. It really depends on what you prioritize.

Edited to add: Barcelona has some fairly widely-scattered sights, so you should expect to occasionally need some form of transportation. However, I stayed there for 10 nights and went to several rarely visited modernista sites in obscure locations and still used only 6 of the 10 rides on my T-10. I am a big-time walker and was staying very near Placa Catalunya. I walked the 2 miles to Montjuic more than once, really enjoying the sights along the way.

I stayed at the Europark last April and liked it very much. I chose it because it was in a little quieter area and because it had solid reviews. I was not disappointed. I did notice that it had some really inexpensive rates in April when I booked in advance...not sure what June is like, price-wise. April was so inexpensive that we splurged there and got their penthouse room which was $200 per night. It's definitely more expensive in June - quick check showed basic room at 129 Euros.

We walked to Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila and down Las Ramblas to the waterfront from there. We took at cab to Parc Guell and then walked back down.

We stayed at the Balmes which is only a few blocks from most of the places you mentioned. It's also a couple blocks from a subway stop in case you don't want to walk. I found Barcelona very walkable.

We found Barcelona to be very walkable. Our hotel was at the top of the Ramblas and conveniently located. Next visit I would probably stay a bit closer to the waterfront.

El Jardi hotel is mid priced and well located near the catedral, the boqueria, las ramblas, and the waterfront.
Search for the website.

There are numerous short let apartments in the area as a consideration. Usually my preference. Uber is in Madrid, but not Barcelona.

On your Italy trip, did you walk a lot across Rome? That's probably the best comparison. Luckily, Barcelona's Metro system is more extensive than Rome's.
