Gaztelugatxeko Doniene

I will be in Basque County at the beginning of June. I would like to visit Gaztelugatxeko Doniene. One person in our party would like to go but is undecided about climbing to the hermitage. Would it make sense to visit if we decide not be make the climb? I’m thinking it’s such a spectacular setting it would still be worth the drive from Bilbao. Thoughts?

Also, we plan to go on a weekday, the first week of June. I checked ticket availability and it appears the need for a timed ticket will not yet be required. Am I understanding ticket availability and the website calendar correctly? Thank you!

Reservations are needed from June 10 onwards, so you can enter without restrictions. The climbing takes from one hour and a half to two hours, return (it´s now a paved route, not as it was a few years ago when it was really complicated). Worth the drive, but I´d combine it with Mundaka, Bermeo and Gernika, no doubt about it.
