Galicia, Granada and Madrid

Hello everyone! I'm starting to plan a trip to Spain in March 2027 and would like to visit Madrid, Galicia Region (Santiago, Ourense, A coruna) and Granada. Dates are between Feb 26th to March 12th (15 days including travel).

This is a draft itinerary:
2/26-27: Fly to Madrid ( Land in Madrid morning of 27th)
27-Head to Granada
28-March 2nd Explore Granada
March 3rd: Fly to Galicia
March 3rd – March 8th Explore Galicia
March 8th-Train to Madrid
March 8th to 11th Explore Madrid
March 12th-Fly Home

Does this itinerary look feasible, or should I take out one of these cities to reduce the amount of travelling?

Santiago de Compostela merits at least 1.5 days. I’m not certain what the draw to Ourense is, but of the three Galician cities you mentioned, if one needed to be skipped for time constraints, Ourense would be it.

I don’t recall Ourense having any major sites, but it’s been a while since I’ve been there.

I'd add Pontevedra and/or tiny Cambados if time permits.

We were in Cambados last night for dinner and were struck by how picturesque the town is in the evenings when the plazas and bars and packed with locals...

I'm happy to add more ideas once you get your plan set...

Are there direct flights from Granada to Galicia? (We flew direct from Barcelona last week)

Why not skip Granada (on the opposite side of Spain from Galicia) for this trip and visit the Basque Country as well. Also, Santiago de Compostela.

In answer to the above: The Basque Country is almost as far from Santiago as it is from Granada!

Driving, it's 9 hours from Granada and 7 from San Sebastián to Santiago.

In December of this year, a new airline based in Santiago, is scheduled to offer direct flights from Granada to Santiago de Compostela, for prices beginning at 60 euro.
