Galacia in August

Hi all I'm in Seattle, WA - heading to Northern Spain in 2 weeks.

It's a bit confusing, but the long and short of it is: Meeting up with a friend who will be in Leon for 6 weeks. We've got rental car and I'll be driving. We'll start in Leon at Castillo de Luna, then drive to Ponferrada for 1.5 days. She's into castles, and I'm into water. So.... therein lies the decision overload, as we are both trying to accommodate the other. She went ahead and booked us in Foz for 2 days... But there are 2 days in between and I am trying to find something along the cost-ish, OR en route to Foz, (from Ponferrada) that we both might enjoy.

We'll literally be staying next to the Castillo de los Templarios while in Ponferrada. I would love one more (still fully in tact) castle and/or an inland waterfall type estuary en route to Foz. OR if there's an adorable picturesque town we should just spend the 2 days exploring, we're open to that as well!

Caveat: I KNOW 2 days isn't enough time to do much, and I know many of you will be shaking your heads. I will also be country hopping with 2 days in multple countries: Before Spain: Camogli, Italy and Ghent, Belgium
After Spain: Frankfurt/Wiesbaden (where I was born), Germany on my way home.

This is just what I do... I can't believe how inexpensive it is to country hop in Europe vs traveling anyplace in the US! **AND I love to get TF out of the US - especially right now. Ugh!

I once had a woman in Malta tell me, "Oh that's so American of you."

TIA!

Thirty five minutes south of León is Castillo de Coyanza in Valencia de Don Juan. It’s a nice castle right off the road. It wasn’t open when we stopped by, but it’s pretty impressive to look at. That’s the only castle I can think of in that area. Not along the coast is Lugo. It’s very picturesque and has a Roman wall surrounding the town that one can walk around.

Very close to Foz is As Catedrais beach. It’s best seen when it’s low tide and one can actually walk on the beach. It does get busy during the summer months.

Thank you! I just sent her a link to see if she's interested. I'm not sure how this forum works for replies to my own question? Right now it looks like I'm replying to myself?

But thank you!
Ciao!
