Fun things to do in Madrid and Barcelona -- Edited

Hi all,

My daughter has requested we do something fun while in Spain, so that the trip is not all about visiting churches, museums and palaces. We have thought about ice skating in Madrid, but looking for other suggestions. Madrid and Barcelona is where we will have the time. Our group has 20 year old, two 23 year olds, and two sets of parents in the low 50s.

Edited to add: We will be going the first two weeks in January. We already have the Museums, the Palaces, etc. on the list.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What does she consider fun or what does she like to do?

My fun and hers are probably different. The 20 and 23 year olds can wander on their own.

Ditto jaimeelsabio and valadelphia: 20-23 is plenty old enough to plan a trip. Tell her/them to get a guidebook + search the internet for things in Madrid and Barcelona that hit their "fun" target. If you're paying for the trip, there may need to be a price limit on the "fun" activities.

If they're currently not 'up' to planning an adventure, this is a great opportunity for them to learn! :O)

Just got back had our 24 year old with us. We were on a Rick Steves tour but had plenty of free time.
Number one suggestion do a food tour. We did one in each city. Young guide and mix of old and young on the tour.
We also went to a concert in Barcelona. It was an orchestra concert but we are into the arts. The theater is amazing. Tried for Lady Gaga tickets but they were too rich for our blood. So maybe check who is touring at that time if that is of interest
There are cooking classes too which looked fun. Wine tasting tours. Oh are they shoppers? Lots and lots of great shopping.
Enjoy

The flamenco class sounds like a good time, Barbara. Thanks for the suggestion!
