From Granada to Tarifa and then on to Estepona

Hi all

We are in the midst of planning our trip. After 5 nights in Barcelona, we plan to go to Granada for 3 nights. We have a night between Granada and Estepona (where we will relax for 3 nights before meeting up with other relatives for time in Sevilla and Portgual. A good friend recommended Tarifa and we think we will do that.

It looks like that the train from Granada to Ageceras and a bus or other transportation from there to Tarifa would work best.

I assume there are buses running the 75 km stretch from Tarifa to Estepona, but am unsure.

Can anyone with experience provide us with some advice and counsel?

Thanks

I have not traveled to that part of Spain but a good source for transportation options is this website: http://www.rome2rio.com

According to above website there is a bus from Tarifa to Estepona available twice daily.

Check this website for bus schedules: http://www.tgcomes.es/servicios_combinados_english.htm

Once on this website, you will choose the Cádiz - Algeciras - Málaga route.

There is a bus (line 904) leaving Tarifa @ 8:45 am & arriving in Estefano @10:45am

Here is the route schedule for the bus you will need to take from Algeciras to Tarifa:http://www.tgcomes.es/horarios_33_english.htm

Hope this helps!

We had a rental car, and more nights. From Granada we first stopped at Antequera to see the passage tombs, then drove on to Ronda for a night. Ronda is a nice town with a day's worth (or fast paced half day) of sights. The next day we did a day stop in Gibraltar before staying in Tarifa - then heading toward Cadiz, Jerez, and Seville.

I liked Tarifa much better than I thought I would. It's a decent beach town and has some nice cafes. It's generally windy - so more of a windsurfing than sunbathing center.

For your trip, just one night between Granada and Estepona, Ronda would be my choice. It's more on the way and Ronda is somewhat of a transportation center, so catching a bus there from Granada, then on to Estepona, should be convenient.
