Free Walking Tours in Barcelona and Madrid

Traveling to Barcelona and Madrid in October. Appreciate any personal recommendations of free walking tours.
Thanks in advance to the RSTF for all your advice.

Why free tours? If you are going to tip them, they aren't free.
Pick a better tour with a better guide. Normally around 12-14 euro p.p. Look on Trip Advisor.
Not Viator either, they just sell other peoples tours.

we are going to both places in a few months time, and intend to do the RS walking tours, using the app. we have found them great in the past, at numerous other cities/countries and they are free.
hope this helps.

The Barcelona tourist organization runs Barri Gotic walking tours. I really enjoyed the one I took (whose cost was 16 euros in 2016), and on that particular day the T.O. group was much smaller than the "free" tour groups I observed at some of the same sights.

The Madrid tourist office offers a tour of the historic center. I don't remember the cost of that one.

I also took the Barrio Gothic tour with Barcelona Tourism and recommend it.

I did two free tours. The free Gaudi Walking Tour via Runner Bean was excellent as was the Sandeman's free Barcelona Walking Tour. You are "expected" to tip the guide.

Not free.....but I also took the Runner Bean "Dark Past Night Walking Tour". My favorite tour!!!! It was more of a ghost story tour about several places in Barcelona. Being a misty, gloomy night made it PERFECT.....lol! Some pretty spooky stories.
