Free accomadation in Nerja, where else to visit?

Hi,

We have an apartment in Nerja owned by a friend that we can stay for free. We'll likely fly into Malaga (from London). How should we spend a week? We don't have to spend the whole time in Nerja, perhaps 3 days. We'd be renting a car. Is Malaga worth 3 days or somewhere else nearby? We're mid 20s so wouldn't mind somehwere somwhat lively.

Thanks

The closest major attraction is the Alhambra in Granada. If you like castles and aqueducts there are a few within 1.5 hours of Nerja. For outdoors activities locations there is the Tabernas Desert and Reserva Natural de la Laguna de Fuente de Piedra. How lively places will be is dependent on the time of year you intend to visit. For year-round lively and maybe what you’re looking for, head over to the Costa Del Sol towns of Marbella and Torremolinos. During the summer months Nerja should be fairly lively as well as nearby Motril.

If “lively” involves going to clubs and bars, do not drink and drive.

Your week will go quick. Like others said, Malaga is worth a couple days, Granada not too far, little over an hour. There is a cave outside of Nerja that is an attraction, as well as some smaller towns nearby. Two hours of driving will get you to Ronda and the White towns, a relatively easy day trip, but to see a couple of the towns deserves an overnight.

Nerja itself is good for just kicking back. We spent 4 or 5 nights there a couple years ago, will spend a week there in April, but our agenda is just to relax.
