Four Days in Barcelona

Since you have provided absolutely no information about your ages, interests, likes and dislikes, etc , my only recommendation is to get hold of a good guide book and see what the city has to offer. I will also caution you that with only four nights I am certain you will find more than enough to occupy your time in Barcelona proper (no side trips), with a possible afternoon excursion to the beaches of Barcelonetta.

Jack is right. You will get better recommendations if people have some idea of what you like. I am planning a trip to Barcelona later this year, and these are my plans, not counting arrival and departure days:

Day 1 - Gaudi sights, including Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell
Day 2 - Fundacio Joan Miro and Maritime Museum, possible tapas tour
Day 3 - Day trip to Priorat Wine Region
Day 4 - Day trip to Tarragona
Day 5 - Day trip to Girona

This plan works for me and my husband because we love art, food, Naval history, wine, Roman ruins and scenery.

I'd be interested to know what so impressed Laura in Barcelona compared with Paris. The Barcelona museum focuses almost entirely on his very early development and cubism. I was underimpressed by the museum, though seeing his early work was very interesting. As I remember it (when it first opened), the Paris museum had an extensive collection with representative works from every stage and phase of his long career.

Barcelona is a great city with lots to see and do for all ages and tastes. As Jack says, you should focus on what you like.

And who is "we"? Are there children involved?

Barcelona has a wide variety of sights, and there's no substitute for reading a good guidebook.

The tourist office has several inexpensive walking tours. For the general-interest traveler, I especially recommend the Barri Gotic tour. It's two hours, and my early-August tour group was not large. We saw some commercial tour groups in the same area that were about twice as large. The tour doesn't cover the entire Barri Gotic, so there will be more for you to explore in that area after the tour, but it's a good introduction and you'll get a bit of Barcelona history along the way.
