Hi. I found an iPad in Parque Maria Luisa (Sept 30th) and am trying to locate the owners. They have the Rick Steves Audio Europe app so I thought I’d post a message here in case they use the forum at all.
Let me know if it’s you!
Very thoughtful!
Is there an office there you could leave your name and contact info? There could be an office at the playa espana. It might be pulled down, but you also could post a sign where you found it.
EDITED TO ADD: If possible, keep it charged in case the person has a "find my ipad" app
I have a feeling the Ipad owner is still in Seville Spain vacationing. Post a sign near hotels by Parque Maria Luisa.
Perhaps contact RS office to have them notify their current tour director in Sevilla.
There must a contact list in it. Is there a contact labeled home, work, mom, etc? See if you could open it unless password protected.
Thanks Rich for reaching out to try and connect the item to the owner.
Is there a way to FaceTime with someone the owner recently connected with? or send an iMessage to one of their contacts to see if they can reach out to the owner? Do they have any of their travel documents/itinerary saved on the ipad?
Activate Siri on the IPad and say "who's IPad is this".
The iPad is locked, without 4g, and without Siri active during lock, so there’s no way of connecting it to anything.
(Edited: meant to be ‘without Siri active during lock’)
Michael, that’s genius!
If it's locked how do know the RS app is installed?
Also check some other options here:
https://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-find-the-owner-of-lost-iphone-ipad/
Swiping left shows notifications, weather etc. and ‘Siri’s suggested apps’, of which Rick Steves Audio Europe was one of the more specific. Thought it worth a shot.
First option:
Plug it into iTunes. See if the device comes up, you might be able to get the cell umber assigned to the iPad. From there try contacting the carrier and see if they could make a courtesy call to the owner.
Second option:
Go to a location in Seville with a no password (open) WiFi. If your lucky the iPad is setup to connect automatically. Once it’s connected hold down the home button to activate Siri. If the iPad is set up to allow you to do this ask some of the following questions to help identify who the user is.
Send a text to mentioned you found this iPad and not sure who the owner is but if owner can reply with his/her contact info and list color of the iPad.
Send an email with same message as above
What’s [common name]’s phone number? (Can be contacted separately)
Who am I? What’s my number? What’s my email? Where do I live?
Hopefully one or more of these will work and allow you to get in contact with the owner who know who owns the iPad
Thought about the free WiFi idea, but still relies on me happening upon a place the owners have been and logged on to the free WiFi previously. The chances of that are slim.
I fly home tomorrow morning so will be able to plug it in to iTunes and see if I can get anything that way.
I’m not giving up. If I can track the owner down I’m happy to post it to its home.
Please spread this across your social media, we must be able to find them!
Rich i will also try my best to help out. There is nothing more rewarding then returning a valuable item to an owner. I will do my research and see if i can come up with other options. I will post them on here.
Safe trip home Rich
Long shot... maybe they were on a Rick Steves tour. I can't tell if there is one this week in Seville as past tours no longer show for booking. Contact the company and see if a tour member lost an iPad.
I wonder if a west coast reader of this would take on phoning RS offices given the benefits of the time zones....
Extra info: the iPad also has the Westjet app on the ‘suggested apps’ lock screen bit, so the owner may be Canadian (If my research is correct)?
At the entrance to the Alcazar and the cathedral is a tourist info center. I wonder if they would post a sign or have suggestions.
Boosting thread to the top and copying for General Europe, too.
somebody may need to go in for him if Rich can't get in touch with the police by phone or on line. They were leaving this morning for home, presumably still with the computer.

I'm in Europe... not much help.
I've contacted RS about any tours in Spain reporting a lost iPad and they have not had any.
It was a long shot that they were on an RS tour.
I wonder if you bring the Ipad to an Apple Store wound they would have the ability to trace the owner via the serial number or some other means???
rich,
Given that the iPad has the WestJet app installed, your supposition is probably correct and the owner is Canadian. If you live close to an Apple store, perhaps one of the "Geniuses" will know how to identify the owner on a locked device? Just a thought.
That would be really great if someone currently in Seville could spare the time pop in to the Police station.
It was unfortunate that I found this at the end of my last full day in Spain, and was therefore quite pressed for time.
Thanks for all the help so far everyone!
Rich did you try to connect the lost ipad to Itunes like we discussed before ?
On Ipad devices themselves, the Serial Number is listed on the back toward the bottom in tiny print. Use a magnifying glass to read and copy the numbers.
You can also find the device's serial number in iTunes:
Connect the iOS device to your computer.
If iTunes doesn't launch automatically, open it.
Locate the device. Click the Summary tab to see its information.
Once you have serial number call apple support and give the number and ask them to contact owner as a courtesy.
I did connect it to iTunes when I got home. It wouldn’t do anything - needs password/thumbprint to activate for initial access.
Rich - Read this link below, it might help to navigate and get you access to the Ipad to locate owner. Give it a try.

If nothing works in your short remaining time, I would take the ipad home and then take it to an Apple Store. If they have pics on it, which I suspect they might given it was with them during their sightseeing, at least they'd have their pictures back.
The main problem is the iPad doesn’t have cellular capability, it needs to be connected to WiFi - which I can’t do without unlocking it.
It’s not connected to any network so it’s not sending or receiving any messages, info or data.
First thing I did was take a photo with it (you can open camera by swiping on lock screen) of a message with my email address on it, hoping they would access their iCloud account, see it and get in touch. Then I realised it couldn’t upload the photo to the cloud!
Likewise, the emergency call feature is non-existent in an iPad that has no cellular ability.
I’m going to try the apple store next, but I’ve read discouraging things about the helpfulness of apple reuniting lost devices with their owners.
Rich - You have to buy the lightning to USB camera adapter and a USB to Ethernet adapter and have an Ethernet cable and your lightning cable and power adapter with you.
Plug the Ethernet into your router and connect to the USB to Ethernet adapter. Connect the USB to Ethernet adapter to the camera adapter's USB port, connect the lightning cable to the camera adapter, connect the power adapter to that same lightning cable and plug it into an outlet and finally connect the camera adapter into the Ipad and voilà you have internet connectivity on Ipad. Try this last effort.
Rich,
You're making quite a bit of effort since the owner can't say thanks. Thank you! Most I-pads will remember any wifi they have previously logged into. Maybe try McDonalds or Starbucks? Good Luck!
