Hello. My wife and I will be in Toledo over Christmas and are preparing to fend for ourselves Christmas Eve evening and Christmas day. Does anyone know of a good shop to by food and drink for eating in hotel or picnic, weather permitting. Thank you.
There's a semi-thriving Jewish community in Toledo so it's possible that not absolutely everything will be closed -- look around the far side of the mesa top where the Transito Synagogue is located.
You could ask about a table, or advice, from this place:

@avirosemail thank you so much.
Bill,
We were in Toledo in October & there is a market on Plaza Mayor (near the cathedral) where you can buy everything you need for a delicious hotel picnic (plus anything else you may find in a supermarket).
My mom & I spent 5 nights in Toledo & we went to this market almost everyday as they had a great produce section where we found the sweetest green grapes.
It's a municipal market (Mercado Municipal) & here is a link to the location on google map:

Check here for Plaza Mayor: http://tinyurl.com/Plaza-Mayor-Toledo
I almost missed it the first time we went there, because it's a brick building (next to the theater, 'Teatro de Rojas') & it doesn't look like a market from the exterior.
I'm sure if you ask at your hotel where the 'Mercado' is, they will show you on the city map that they provide to their guests.
Enjoy your trip!
Thank you so much for the info on the Mercado!
You are welcome! :-)
Remember, the big day in Spain is January 6, the epiphany or Three Kings Day. December 25 is just the first of the twelve days of Christmas. It will be Christmastime when you are there, but not the big day. I'd expect restaurants and markets to be open. Ask your lodging for the closest store to buy groceries.
I can't remember seeing anything I'd call a Supermercado in the old center but there may be one near the square Rick likes. I can't recall the name? It wasn't my favorite part of the center. I think Rick likes it because there are a lot of lodging choices, restaurants and other conveniences in the area.
