Flying to Malaga (Iberia) from Alicante via Madrid.

Our February 19th 5:40 pm flight to Malaga from Alicante (Iberia) goes via Madrid, arriving at 6:55 pm at Terminal 4.
Our connection then departs at 7:50 pm, also from Terminal 4.

Is this too tight to manage? I tend to get somewhat anxious about things like that.
Could we easily make our connection and can we assume our baggage would automatically be transferred in that short of a time?
What if we have carry on luggage?

If Iberia sells you the connection, it should be possible. Worst case, you'll be put on the next flight.

The big question is why you are flying from Malaga to Alicante via Madrid, the train would be much easier.

An hour should be fine. It’ll all be in the same terminal. You’re sure to arrive at a gate on the far north end, and will make your way to the next gate. T4 is one long hall—I timed a purposeful, but not rushed walk of the length at 20 minutes. There are travelators to speed that up.

@Badger- The cities aren’t easily connected by rail, and train would take 7+ hours, also routing through Madrid.

I now see the second leg, from Madrid to Malaga departs from Terminal 3!
Still doable?

Terminal change? That’s really surprising—up to maybe not right. And it would be impossible in the timeframe.
