I am looking into booking an open jaw flight departing Toronto, Ca-Barcelona---Madrid, Toronto on TAP airlines for 5 of us in November. The question I have is on the site on the left side before the price it says discount. ???? Looked at their site and still confused I guess my concern is luggage. With this fare are we allowed a carryon and a full side piece that I believe they refer to as "hold" luggage as here in states we refer to it as "checked" . Any suggestions recommendations for this type of flight is appreciated.

I didn't get into the site far enough to see what you are talking about with regard to where it says discount (though Discount is a flight class, apparently), so I can't answer that. You are allowed a carryon bag, no larger than 22x16x8, and a personal item (purse, computer bag, etc) that is not more than 16x12x4. You can also check a bag for free - no more than 50 lbs. Discount passengers do not get a free checked bag. What fare class are you purchasing?

I guess I am wondering what is the defines a discount passenger. It showed the word discount when I put my dates in and flights came up. I was looking at multi destinations booking as I said.

Sometimes different fare structures may come up, even within the one class of economy/tourist/coach/cattle. Usually this relates to different restrictions relating to changes, cancellations, frequent flyer points earned.
Hold = Checked, correct !!

I went to the Tap site and booked or 5 11/11/2017 from Toronto to Barcelona then Madrid to Toronto on 11/26.

Still need to get clarification on this fare. When I go to the TAP Portugal sight I put in dates 11/11/17 -11/26/17 . Open Jaw fare departing Toronto to Barcelona and Seville to Toronto. The out going fair shows the word "discount" in red. The return flight shows the word "Basic" in Blue. I have tried to research this as when looking for the fare a pop up shows no bags left behind are icluded except with Discount fare. When I looked at regulations I got the feeling that traveling from the US or Canada per regulations bags are included in fare. But I am still very uncertain and don't know where else to find this info out. Many thanks

I have also booked flights on TAP from Boston to Portugal. Looking at my flights, I see the red "discount" code next to all legs of my flights. When I clicked on it, it took me to the following page: http://help.flytap.com/support/bp/en/tap-products.html
It appears that this is the most discounted/least flexible fare -- no refunds, no priority boarding, no lounge access, no free seat reservations, etc. I know for a fact that you're allowed one checked bag as my reservation email confirms this. You are allowed one checked bag with a weight up to 23 kgs/50 lbs and overall dimensions up to 158 cms/62 inches.

Mary thank you so much. We did not book yet so we do not have a confirmation of course. I did see this information and even called a travel agent I know to confirm luggage. She could not. So I was hoping to find someone on the board that would have the answer. I guess worse case is we would have to pay for luggage but my understanding is we can each check 1 bag I believe approx 55 lbs. Again many thanks
