Flying Seville to Barcelona to San Francisco

Is it possible, timing wise, to fly from Seville to Barcelona arriving in Barcelona at 9:30am and then on a separate ticket fly at 2:00pm from Barcelona to San Francisco? How does it work to arrive from a domestic flight and then re-check in for an international flight at the Barcelona airport? I am unable to find a way to book both flights on one ticket even though they are both on Iberia/Level. Google Flights shows it but I can't find it through the airline. Thank you!

Depending on who you are flying with your flights might arrive and depart from the same terminal. Looks like all Iberia flights arrive and depart from Terminal 1. If not, there is a free shuttle bus between the two terminals at Barcelona airport. It runs every 6-7 minutes and takes about 10 minutes to get between terminals.

We found Barcelona airport pretty efficient in September 2022 - was less than 40 minutes from getting off our flight, collecting our bags and getting in the taxi line.

Will be helpful if you can check in online for your departure flight as then you just need to use a kiosk to get your boarding pass and bag tags and then use a self bag drop. We flew out of Barcelona headed for Tokyo and check in/bag drop was also fast.

When I searched on Iberia for Seville to San Francisco it looked like most flights went via Madrid, not Barcelona. Is there any special reason you want to fly via Barcelona?

The Seville-Barcelona leg would have to be on budget airlines Vueling or Ryanair.

Then there's a B/A flight at 11:15 a.m. that goes to London Heathrow connecting to an American Airlines flight after a 2 hr. 30 minute layover. It can be bought on British Airways on one ticket.

Thank you! To Aussie Nomad - Flights on Iberia on September 23 (needed date) from Madrid to San Francisco are over $3,000 which is why we are flying out of Barcelona. Where did you search to find the flights from Madrid to SFO you were referencing?

Doing that on two separate tickets is way too risky for me. If something goes seriously wrong on the Seville-Barcelona hop (the flight could even be canceled), you would miss your return transatlantic flight and have to buy last-minute, one-way tickets home.

Can you not get a decent fare back from Madrid? Most trains from Seville to Madrid take 2-1/2 to 3 hours. You could head back to Madrid the night before you fly home.

If you have to fly back from Barcelona, I'd at least go to Barcelona a day ahead of time.
