We just spent most of yesterday getting from Barcelona (really Monserrat) to San Sebastián by train. Our next stop Is Sevilla. We’re thinking fly. Our host here st Pension Iturriza agrees, but he suggests we fly from Bilbao as it’s a larger airport. Does anyone have experience or advice? By the way, we’ve been to Madrid in the past and are skipping it this trip.
You’re in luck—Volotea, Vueling and Iberia Airlines all fly direct, nonstop flights in 85 minutes from Bilbao to Seville. www.Skyscanner.com
Fly from Bilbao if you can! . Wishing you a good trip!
Well, if there´s a direct link from Donostia-San Sebastian airport to Seville, I´d use it. But it´ll be cheaper and with far more connections from Bilbao, D-SS airport is really tiny. And I would spend at least one night in Bilbao, not only because of the amazing Guggenheim museum, it also has a really beautiful old quarter and it´s a charming city.
I agree that Bilbao is a great destination, but if you have no time to spare, check to see whether there are direct buses from San Sebastian to the Bilbao airport; there may be. If not, there are frequent buses running to downtown Bilbao. A bus will be much, much faster than the train. The train is very scenic but also very slow.
San Sebastian/ Irun has non-stops a couple of days a week. If that doesn't work I'd go out of Bilboa. You'll have to look at the specific options and weigh choices based on cost/schedule vs budget/flexibility.
It looks like there actually is one nonstop Volotea Airlines flight on Friday 10/21 from San Sebastián (EAS) Airport to Seville (SVQ) for $85. It departs at 7:50 pm and arrives at Seville at 9:30 pm. The next chance for a nonstop flight out of San Sebastián (EAS) to Seville ( SVQ) is on Tuesday 10/25. Volotea Airlines at 8:05 pm for $25.
( I knew I should have gone to 🇪🇸 Spain)!
Cheers!
Thanks, everyone. We’re going to spend Friday night in Bilbao and fly out on Saturday afternoon. Flights are much cheaper on Saturday.
