We'd like to see Sevilla. Cordoba and Granada and we have between 10-14 days in April. Would you fly into Sevilla or Malaga from New York City or another airport?
I was thinking of the same route.
Just to add some other thoughts to the process...it of course varies by airline, but both Seville and Malaga will require a change somewhere in Europe before your flight to the US. When we were looking, we just did not like the schedules, so several times now have spent a night or two in Madrid to catch a mid-morning direct flight to the US. The fast train between Seville, or Malaga makes it easy.
I'd consider flying in and out of Madrid. Several direct flights from NY and trains from Madrid to Seville for example are fast and comfortable.
I've flown back from Malaga -- which is great-- but living in Cleveland I'm stuck with connecting flights. You coming in and out of NYC allow for directs.
Good luck!
I would stay in Malaga a night or two if your itinerary works all right for the others. We’re going to be flying into Spain again and are staying two nights in Malaga before moving along the coast and eventually inland. The airport is very handy to the city center.
United has a non-stop to Malaga from EWR. It might be seasonal, and might not be daily, but worth looking into.
I live in California and have flown into Malaga several times and into Seville also. So the answer would be to look at what airline you want to use, based on cost/flight times/ and the least amount of stops. Iberia I can go from Lax to Madrid, change there for either Malaga or Seville. British Airways I can fly LAX to London Heathrow change to a flight to Malaga without a stop in Madrid, if I recall going into Seville was not Heathrow it was Gatwick and I would never change in London/Heathrow to Gatwick. If your not planning on seeing Malaga, then fly into either Granda or Seville and out of the other, which will mostly likely require a change in Madrid. For me the only time I go to Granada is the weekend so the dates would determine which city/direction I would travel. New York to Spain should be a piece of cake. Both Malaga and Seville have fine airports, Madrid is huge and it takes a very long time to move around it so be careful there. If you're going to be flying around Holy Week, Seville may not be the best place to fly into as the prices will be more expensive and book out further. Malaga has a metro train at the airport to the bus station. The bus works better to get to either Seville/Granada from Malaga. And yes there is a potty on the bus. Enjoy your trip it sounds wonderful. J
