Flights from Palma to Barcelona

Looking at a flight on Vueling Airlines to Barcelona to make an international flight home. Vueling flight would arrive at 7:55 and international check in should be by 8:45 for an 11:45 flight. Is this doable?
I have no idea how large the Barcelona airport is, nor what size plane the Vueling flight would be on as that would (I think) determine where in the airport they would land?

Does anyone have experience with this? If not doable, any recommendations for hotels near the Barcelona airport would be appreciated.

Don't do it, Helen! I have never changed planes in Barcelona, but I departed from BCN on my flight home last year. I was in line for almost an hour at the United counter alone. It was a very good thing I had allowed the full three hours for the check-in process. These days you have to figure you may be the lucky person who gets tapped for a random security inspection.

Thanks so much, you have confirmed what the travel agent said! I was really hoping for a way to shorten a LONG travel day.

Helen, you would be better protected from any transfer issues if your agent can book both legs on one ticket with Vueling's code-share partners British Airways/Iberia.
