Flight Credits with Iberia- Be aware!

So, just a heads up. Got off the phone with Travelocity and Iberia regarding a credit for travel to Spain. Credit from last year to this year for this past May.
They will not extend by expiration date. What a night mare. Someone did mention in one of the comments some weeks ago about NOT using Travelocity. YES they were right. I have rebooked the trip with AA direct.
I paid a little more but got the times I needed for travel.

JUST Sayin. So now I'm out 400.00 , I guess it could of been worst. I went round and round with them but to no avail.

Oh.. well.

Sorry you are out that money! I'm wondering though is it Iberia or Travelocity that is more to blame? Regardless what I've learned is generally it is always best to book flights directly with the airline if possible this way you avoid the middle man.

Alice,
Yes, this is one of the lessons we all learned during Covid, we're on our own when using third party booking agencies. We booked directly with the airlines and in 2020 got flight/travel credits that were good for two years. We just used those credits to book next year's spring flight to Spain. We also lost $$ on our bookings during 2020 but not much, thanks to booking directly with hotels and airlines.

One of our best decisions in 2020 after we had prepaid a river cruise in 2019 was to select a refund (sans our deposit). We lost 15% on our total cost but got 85% back. Our friends on the same cruise took a future travel credit for this year instead and that ship didn't sail this year. Now they have a future travel credit for next year, which they hope they'll be willing and able to use. The cruise lines are now offer FTCs only, no refunds. The way I see it, that's a 24 month loan with no return. Not sure when we'll cruise again, but we certainly won't prepay the entire amount so far in advance.
