Working on a travel plan to see our student studying in Valencia. Are there any places in Valencia or not terribly far from it (ie day trip) where we could see some wonderful Flamenco dancing? Alas, given all our time constraints, Sevilla seemed a bit far.

Yes, there are venues that offer flamenco in Valencia. I imagine they cater to tourists but seem to get decent reports; here are two of them, If you want to experience this, and you are not going to Andalucia, there's not much you could lose except for a few hours and whatever they cost...

My wife attended a performance there and said it was magnificent. It's easy to get to. Take cash, though (50 euros apiece should be plenty).
